Before pictures of my kitchen.

Remodeling

I am going to knock out the pantry wall (where the McDougall cabinet is) and bring cabinets all the way down then an L-shape bar at the end, about where the window is.

I'll also have a counter and cabinets at the end of the kitchen with corner cabinets at both ends.   These at the end will all have glass fronts so I'll have someplace to put my nice Franciscan Desert Rose dishes.

I'm going to put in a slide-in range with an overhead microwave.

It'll be so nice to have counter space and get rid of so much of the clutter!

The kitchen is empty and ready to start!

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

Day 5

Sink's in ... and cabinet hardware!

Counter tops are installed!  (January 15)

Tile Day!

Yay!  The kitchen is officially finished!

This counter and the one at the right is all the counter space I have.

Day 1 of remodeling -- everything is torn out to the bare walls.

And the wall comes tumbling down...

ewwww .... ugly green linoleum that was original to the house.

WOW -- what a mess Day 1 was.  I'm sure Day 2 will be much better -- right?

At least we have cabinets today!

And one corner cabinet got hung!

Oops -- cabinet base is shorter than old ones -- guess we'll need a new floor!

And over that ugly green linoleum is the black & white  linoleum. The top layer (wood laminate) was stripped off.

The new flooring is laminate that looks like stone tiles.
OK -- floor is in.  What's this?  Call the plumber and move plumbing over 6 inches so sink can be centered under window.

After the plumber and flooring -- electric work had to be done.  Rewiring because dishwasher and stove weren't going in the same place.

Any bets on if any cabinets get put in on Day 3 ??

Stay tuned ...

These end cabinets are all glass doors.  The doors to the corner cabinets on each end came with plain doors and will be re-ordered.

Range goes here and then base cabinets next to it.  The top cabinets were wrong size and had to be re-ordered.

Cabinet far right of window was wrong size and
 had to be re-ordered.

Still another base cabinet goes in bottom - left
Dishwasher goes in the space bottom - right
Mike and I put the shelves in this evening.

There will be a drawer base at the end of the kitchen where the blank space is now.  Probably go in tomorrow.

I love the large base corner cabinets with the lazy susans!

Great place to play hide 'n seek!

Day 4 -- the guys are working half day and hopefully get the rest of the cabinets installed.   Maybe the appliances can be put in on Monday and I can at least have a stove.

(keeping my fingers crossed)

They put almost all of the cabinet doors on.

And getting the cabinets across the bottom completed

There will be glass on the cabinet fronts on those
two corner cabinets, too.

At this end of the kitchen, there will be a bar/counter going across.  Probably long enough for 3 bar stools.

I love these two corner cabinets with the lazy susans!

This cabinet with the large pull out shelves is next to my stove to hold my pots and pans.

Day 5  (Sunday) and I'm suppose to get the appliances.
They'll connect the stove so I can at least cook and put
some plywood on the the tops of the cabinets so I can use them until the counters are in.
WOW -- I have a new window and a dishwasher!

This is the wall that the bar/counter will be attached to.

Cabinets on the one long side are 15 feet!  That's a lot of cabinets!

The far end is 10 feet.

And I can cook now!

It'll be a couple of weeks before the cabinet is in.  This is where the wrong size one was ordered.

And I need a cabinet on the right side of the window, too.
The guys put some plywood on the cabinet tops until I can get counters.  It may be a couple of weeks for that.
I had a couple of rolls of contact paper left over from 'something' that I put down on it -- just to make it easier to clean.

Still a lot of small work to be done.  Baseboard, trim around windows, paint, etc.   Counters should be done in hopefully 2 weeks -- maybe as long as 3 weeks.

Then the tile will be done.

In the meantime -- the guys will come over and put the knobs on the doors/drawers as soon as I get the ones I want.

It's kinda 'roughing it' with no sink in the kitchen, but I'll survive!

I'm very happy with what they've done!

Yay!   The guys went ahead and put my sink in so I'd have water in the kitchen.   It's going to be about a week - 10 days before my counters will be ready to be installed.

And Saturday Mike and I picked out the hardware for the cabinets and he put those on for me.

New sink and fixtures

Pull out trash bin -- didn't want my trash just sitting around in my new kitchen!

Counter tops went in Tuesday 1/15

Started on tile Jan 16 and working on it today, too.

They also put the window sill ledge in.

Yay!  The kitchen is officially finished!

The guys got the tile grouted and the two glass cabinet doors came in.  I'm very pleased with it.   And that's an understatement.  Trim around kitchen window needs painted -- but I'll do that myself (for anyone that knows me, you know that means Mike will do it). Pictures taken this morning while still dark and I still have lots of things to do to make it really *my* kitchen!

Have I mentioned how much I love my boys for doing this?

BIG hugs to John (the contractor) and Curtis & Walter (the workers)

That basket hanging from the ceiling is for bird.  She was so lost with no place to perch in the kitchen!

I love the pull-outs in this cabinet for my pots and pans!

Note how the window is centered over the sink!

And add a touch of color ...

...plus a few collectibles

And it's finally my kitchen!

Mike ordered the bar stools on the internet.  The red looks great!

And although I liked my red/yellow/blue light fixtures, the bulbs were almost impossible to find for them.

We got new ones.
